Our concept for NXT was for a creative culinary hub integrated in partnership with nature.
We have designed the project so that it is integrated back into the landscape, and regenerates itself both literally – with water and soil systems – but also by celebrating nature and sharing information to help foster a better way of living.
The rooftop of NXT and surrounding landscape is where possible edible plants are grown. We call it our ‘food forest’. We have planted and encouraged growth of plants that naturally want to live in this environment and also treat them to support whatever seasons they naturally want to prosper and fruit. The land itself actually becomes a calendar, as the months pass different plants go through their seasons, and we react by using the crops presented on their schedules.
